Luis Uriza global leader of Bain & Company's Oil & Gas practice
Global strategy consulting firm Bain & Company has appointed Bogotá-based partner Luis Uriza as the new global leader of its Oil & Gas practice.
Luis Uriza has worked extensively with the energy industry’s leading players over the past 25 years, including international majors, national oil companies, liquefied natural gas companies, investment funds, multilateral development agencies and other financial institutions. He has also advised oilfield and engineering service companies throughout the US, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
His projects have covered strategy, performance improvement, organization, project structuring, venture configuration, and digitization, among others.
Uriza currently is the head of Bain & Company’s Oil & Gas divisions in the Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa, and now takes on a global remit. “Luis has been instrumental in leading our Americas and EMEAs practices through a tumultuous period for the industry and has a tremendous amount of experience advising top energy executives through unprecedented challenges,” said Joe Scalise, head of the firm’s global Energy & Natural Resources practice.
The new global leader – who previously worked from the firm’s London office – has been tasked with further accelerating the growth of Bain’s Oil & Gas practice, with a specific focus on client development, external recruiting to support the practice’s growth, as well as the management of the practice’s consultants and professional staff.
He steps into the shoes of Peter Parry, a veteran partner and the founder of Bain’s Oil & Gas practice, who in turn has assumed the role of chairman of the broader Energy & Natural Resources division.
According to a recent study from EY, the global oil & gas industry is currently under siege from all directions, and is turning to technology for most of its answers.
