Jose Alberro joins Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice of FTI
FTI Consulting has boosted its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice with former Mexican government official Jose Alberro.
Bringing a 40+ year career to the global management consulting firm, Jose Alberro has had a distinguished career in the Mexican government.
This includes serving as Chief Executive Officer of Pemex Gas, a $10 billion natural gas and gas-liquids company owned by the Mexican state, and serving as Pemex’s chief representative during the North American Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the United States, Mexico and Canada in the 1990s.
Alberro also served as Mexico’s Chief Economic Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury; Chief of Staff of the Secretary of Commerce and Industrial Promotion; and Economic Advisor to the Secretary of Programming and the Budget.
His experience spans more than 40 years of experience focusing on applied economic and financial modeling in numerous industries. Areas of expertise include economic and financial modeling, valuation, and estimation of damages, with deep experience in the oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, mining, electricity, consumer goods, industrial inputs, banking, telecommunications and other network industries.
Alberro specializes in damages estimation in international arbitration, mergers and antitrust, economic impact analysis and tariff design in network industries such as water, electricity and natural gas transportation and distribution.
He has testified in English, Spanish and French in proceedings under International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) and International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) rules in cases related to investments in four continents.
During his career, Alberro worked for several international consulting firms, including Cornerstone Research, Berkeley Research Group, LECG, and Charles River Associates. He has also consulted for the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the United Nations Development, among others.
In his role at FTI Consulting, Alberro will provide clients with expert testimony and expert analyses in international arbitrations and litigations.
