Ashiq Nanhekhan, a member of Grant Thornton based in Aruba, has been promoted to Director in the firm’s Advisory practice.
In his expanded role, Nanhekhan will lead initiatives in cybersecurity, IT audit, data analytics, and artificial intelligence across the Dutch Caribbean region, which spans the firm’s offices in Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, St. Maarten, and Suriname. From these offices, the Grant Thornton also serves Saba and Sint Eustatius – the two remaining islands that make up the Dutch Caribbean.
Nanhekhan will continue to serve as Program Director for SHIELD, Grant Thornton’s technology-enabled business risk services suite. This offering helps organizations strengthen governance, risk management, compliance, and IT security, enabling them to operate confidently in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Over the course of his 15-year career, Nanhekhan has developed deep expertise in cyber risk management, compliance, and digital transformation. Before joining Grant Thornton in 2023, he spent seven years at Deloitte in the Caribbean, following earlier roles as a technical consultant at a boutique consultancy and at KPN, a major telecommunications company in the Netherlands. He has been based in the Dutch Caribbean for more than six years.
“I’m deeply grateful for this opportunity and the trust placed in me,” said Nanhekhan. “I’m passionate about helping organizations across the Caribbean navigate the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation—fostering innovation while ensuring security and resilience.”
Across the Caribbean, Grant Thornton is one of the leading providers of audit, advisory, and tax services. Beyond the Dutch Caribbean, the firm operates around a dozen offices, including in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, and Trinidad and Tobago.
