Dutch sustainability consultancy Earthwise launches in Colombia
Earthwise, a boutique advisory firm from the Netherlands specialising in sustainability, has opened a new office in Colombia as part of its international expansion.
Founded in 2024 by a team of “sustainability enthusiasts”, Earthwise advises mid-sized and large organisations on ESG and sustainability-related challenges. Its services span ESG strategy, climate and decarbonisation planning, sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, biodiversity, social and human rights, and sustainable supply chains.
What began as a small team has evolved into a ten-strong consultancy, now extending its reach beyond national borders for the first time. The decision to expand into Colombia was anything but coincidental – co-founder Wilco Otte previously lived and worked in the South American nation and sees significant opportunities to drive meaningful impact in Colombia.
“Colombia is known for its diversity and capacity for innovation – two qualities that are essential for developing and implementing sustainable solutions,” Otte said. “While there is still much work to be done, we at Earthwise firmly believe in the country’s enormous potential in the sustainability space. There is also a clear and urgent need to accelerate the transition.”
The Colombian office is led by Oscar Mauricio Cifuentes Quin, who brings more than 20 years of experience in consulting, sustainability and business transformation. He previously spent a decade at Deloitte and has also held roles at Wavin Group, IQVIA (a life sciences consultancy) and BIP (an Italian consulting firm). Over the course of his career, he has led numerous ESG and sustainability initiatives across Latin America and the United States.
The local team has hit the ground running. Earthwise has already secured a major partnership with one of Colombia’s largest banks, supporting the expansion of sustainable finance and accelerating green investment across key sectors of the economy. At the same time, the firm is drawing interest from Dutch multinationals operating in Colombia in search of specialist sustainability expertise.
