Global consultancy FTI Consulting has appointed Michael Cullen a Managing Director in its Bogotá office.
Cullen joins the firm from Control Risks, a specialist global risk consultancy with 30+ offices worldwide. He worked over two decades for the London headquartered firm in the UK, US and Latin America, latterly serving as a senior partner and head of its Andean operations spanning Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia, Panama and the Guayanas for ten years.
At FTI Consulting, Cullen is a Managing Director in its Colombian team, and part of the firm’s global Risk and Investigations practice, a service line within the firm’s Forensic and Litigation Consulting division.
He works with clients to investigate, understand and resolve regulatory, operational, legal, political, social and reputational issues and challenges, specialized in complex, cross-border deals, disputes and arbitrations in Latin America.
Cullen's track record includes leading the largest anti-competition investigation in Colombian history on behalf of a US manufacturing client; providing an expert report for external counsel on the corruption; advising a petrochemical company on political, social and reputational risks globally during a multibillion-dollar acquisition; and overseeing an investigation into alleged corruption in the region by a pharmaceutical company.
Commenting on the addition, Andrew Rosini, Leader of the Risk and Investigations practice at FTI Consulting, said: “Michael draws on a combination of expert witness work, consulting, investigative fact-finding and reputation management experience to assist clients in developing strategies and tactics that help them respond to and manage risks and crises in their Latin American operations.”

FTI Consulting’s Bogotá office is one of the firm’s six hubs in Latin America. Meanwhile, its Risk and Investigations practice conducts investigations and performs analysis to help decision-makers address and mitigate risk, protect assets, remediate compliance, make informed decisions and tap into opportunities.
