FTI Consulting adds Asia remit to Michael Cullen’s practice leader role

FTI Consulting has promoted the leader of its Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice in Latin America, Michael Cullen, to the position of Head of Latin America and Asia.
Michael Cullen has more than 25 years of experience in cross-border disputes, investigations and crisis management. He helps clients investigate, understand and resolve numerous regulatory, operational, legal, political, social and reputational issues and challenges.
He has been with FTI Consulting since 2020, based out of the Bogota office. He was appointed a Senior Managing Director in 2023 and is in charge of the Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice across Latin America.
His latest appointment now sees the Asia region added to his Latin America remit. Cullen will now also oversee team members operating out of offices in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, and Singapore, with Asia one of FTI Consulting’s fastest-growing regional markets.
“Asia represents a dynamic and diverse market, and Michael’s experience will reinforce FTI Consulting’s position as a trusted advisor in the forensic and litigation consulting market, helping organisations mitigate risks, manage investigations and resolve disputes effectively in an increasingly complex business environment,” said William Perlstein, Global Leader of the Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice at FTI Consulting.
Prior to FTI Consulting, Cullen spent two decades at Control Risks, where he was the Head of its operations in the Andean region, Panama, Venezuela and across the Guayanas and Southern Cone for ten years. He also acted as the Global Managing Director of the firm’s Technology Consulting business.
During his time at the firm, he worked on a number of high-profile kidnap, extortion and product contamination cases throughout Latin America. Prior to serving Control Risks, Cullen worked as a litigation attorney.
